Facial acne is the most common type of acne and it happens to be very traumatic as it hurts mentally and physically. Acne vulgaris, cystic acne, acne conglobata are normally facial acne that appears on face. There are various causes of facial acne including direct exposure to sun and using harsh cosmetics. Facial acne is comparatively more common in females than males. It affects people at any age. Teenagers start having acne on faces and it may extend to neck, chest, back and it is called body acne. Therefore, the first occurrence of pimples most often take place in face.
Causes of Facial Acne:
Direct Exposure to Sun – Sun rays are quite damaging and harmful in these days due to air pollution that damaged ozone layer. Ozone filter the sun rays and restricts damaging sun rays from reaching into the earth. But these days, most of those damaging rays successfully reach the earth. Your skin is very susceptible to these sun rays. The rays burns your skin and cause inflammation of hair follicles and sebaceous glands. The inflammation of hair follicles results in acne (pimples, papules, pustules etc.). Therefore, avoid direct exposure to sun and do use sunscreens before going outdoors.
Cosmetics:
Certain cosmetics contain harsh chemicals and various oils that clog hair follicles. People use these cosmetics carelessly without knowing if the cosmetic is oily and what type of skin they have. For oily skin, non comedogenic cosmetics are used and for dry skin, oily cosmetics are used. But although oily cosmetics are used for dry skin, oily should exceed the specific amount and oils should be natural like almond oil etc. If you are having facial acne, avoid these harsh and oily cosmetics and wait for improvement in less than a week.
Harsh Soaps:
Soaps contain detergents and other chemicals to kill germs and remove the excessive oil from your skin. Most people are allergic to these detergents and chemicals or the soaps are too harsh for the skin and the skin is sensitive. Therefore, they cause allergic reaction and inflammation of hair follicles. According to American Society of dermatology, people should use baby soaps that do not contain harsh chemicals and detergents.
Lack of Nutrients in Diet:
Vitamins and minerals are essential for healthy skin. Your body produces free radicals that are extremely toxic by products. Free radicals tends to accumulate within skin and other soft tissues. Antioxidants are substance that removes free radicals from your body by neutralizing them. Vitamin A, C and E are strong antioxidants that efficiently removes free radicals from your body and make your skin healthy. Free radicals damages hair follicles and consumes the nutrients needed for healthy skin.

Use a suitable herbal skin care tonic that nourishes your hair follicles. Do not wash your face more than twice a day. If it is caused by bacterial infection, your dermatologist may prescribe certain antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications.
