Most other causes triggers the production of sebum that results in clogged hair follicles and lead to acne breakouts in sequential process. Sebum is secreted from sebaceous glands and increases amount of sebum leads to follicular infection and often the walls of skin pores rupture and sebum enters deep skin layers spreading the infection and you notice pain and extreme burning sensation. It plugs hair tiny hair follicles, restricting the passage of skin oil to come out. As a result, it exerts pressure and a small bump arises that we call whitehead.

The result obviously will be bumps and sebum pop out skin, such lesions are called blackheads.
Your body needs hormones for coordination with various organs. Production of these hormones is essential for your body health, when there is a fluctuation in the amount of these hormones, skin's oil producing glands are stimulated and produce excessive amount of sebum that ultimately causes whiteheads, blackheads and pimples.
