Acne is a skin condition that people suffer from frequently. It affects people of all ages and usually requires treatment that varies based on the type and severity of the acne condition. Few of the causes of acne identified include mental stress, changes in the environment, unhealthy diet and hormonal shifts in the body. The androgen hormone induces the sebaceous glands to excrete excessive amounts of oil that clogs the skin pores. This leaves room for bacteria and dirt to accumulate within the skin pores leading to acne formation. Acne scars generally develop when the acne is picked, touched or rubbed frequently. This not only damages the skin but leaves permanent acne scars. The usual treatment for acne scarring are herbal and homemade remedies that are cost effective, easy to make however the remedy takes a longer period of time to take effect. On the other hand there are treatments that can cure the acne scars permanently such as laser surgery and dermabrasion however these can cause sensitivity to light, damage to the skin or further scarring in certain cases. Therefore before undergoing any form of treatment it is favorable to consult a relevant dermatologist who can prescribe the right form of treatment for the skin condition.
Homemade remedies can be quite useful for curing acne scars but for such treatment to be effective it is necessary to apply the remedy regularly while taking constant care for the skin. Some useful remedies that can cure acne scars include application of lemon juice, rosewater and mint juice. Mint juice contains antioxidant and healing properties that not only clears the skin, removes bacteria but also fills and covers the dents that appear on the skin. It is a slow process however it can prove to be quite useful if applied daily for at least 20 minutes. The mint juice is also considerably effective when left overnight.
One of the many treatments for severe acne scars involve surgery where the scars are removed or stitched together using the punch technique. Small scars are pushed to the surface whereas large scars are literally cut out and the skin stretched to cover the dents on the surface of the skin. This method is quite drastic but can prove to be a permanent solution to cure acne.
